The Carver County Library System is a service of Carver County government in collaboration with your local city government and the Library Board of Trustees.

Our mission is to best serve the Carver County community, the library will be a provider of resources, spaces, and experiences that enrich and empower people’s lives.

Our vision is to inspire intellectual curiosity, the joy of discovery, and facilitate lifelong learning.

Our promises to our patrons.  We will:

  1. Create a welcoming and accessible environment for all: We will ensure that patrons to our physical and virtual spaces feel welcome and that the library is accessible to patrons of all abilities.
  2. Strive to provide an enriching, inclusive, and safe library experience. We will work to ensure that all patrons have a positive and safe experience using the library.
  3. Maintain a well-trained and skilled staff: We will train our staff in providing the best customer service possible through a variety of in-person and virtual training opportunities.
  4. Provide resources reflecting our communities and diverse points of view: We will build library collections that both mirror our communities and also provide windows into a wider world.
  5. Be an engaged partner in our communities: We will identify and partner with government agencies, nonprofits, and other organizations which share or support our mission.
  6. Be inspiring and innovative: We will look for new and exciting ways to deliver library services by leveraging private and public funds to resource innovation.
  7. Promote the joy of reading and lifelong learning: We will develop collections, programs, and services which spark reading and support learning outside of a formal educational setting.
  8. Reach out to underserved communities: We will make focused efforts to promote the library and provide library services to communities which have not traditionally used the library or who face significant barriers to library use.
  9. Be good stewards of resources we receive: We will make data driven decisions to ensure that resources are used in the most efficient and effective ways possible.
  10. Present enriching events and programs: We will present high-quality in-person, hybrid, and virtual events for patrons of all ages, such as early literacy experiences to intergenerational opportunities.

In 2022 the Library adopted our strategic plan for 2023-2027.
